This
morning I was woken up at like midnight, or at least midnight for me. My
watch said 11:56 PM but they claimed the time was closer to 8 am. I feel like
they are using the fact that we are so far North that the day never really ends
to trick me, but the light was good, so I went running. Yes, that's right, first
thing I do in Denmark was running. I ran 5k, which Danes actually understand...
Unlike Americans who will ask what a 5k is in miles. Miles are obviously so
much easier to understand... My run was like every run; the first mile (I'm
using miles only because that's what my watch uses.) was painful... My knees
still feel cramped from sitting in a plane for 14 hours, and then going with
car on the middle seat trying to get my brothers from falling asleep on me.
One the second mile we jumped on a small foot trail, and we ran up a hill
(probably the only one in flat little Denmark) to find a great view of Roskilde
Fjord. This is the fjord that held a large Viking settlement. It is also the
namesake of the city I'm in. Third mile was easy; I pulled away from my brother
and father because the 9-minute mile pace didn't suit me... I am leaving
Roskilde and going to Lolland to see same things like gravestones and a house or
something.
